What can be taken from the Gaming industry...

Google Maps have some great gaming potential

Where else have useful maps been so fully intigrated but the video game industry. I think google is definitely on the right track with Google Maps. One of their latest improvements (see for yourself) added a small box in the bottom corner that allows the viewer to see a larger area of the map and what portion of that are they are looking at.

Google recently released version 2 of the Google Maps API (more) This looks to be a great improvement on an already great product. My favorite part of this is their elimination of the obnoxious page view limit. As a developer of large sites, this no longer will hinder my work. Another fun point to make is that this opens the door for some impressive operations...

Buzz.Blogger list some great technologies

Another blog I have been watching posted some information on video blogs. buzz.blogger.com This blog links to a step by step guide for setting up video blogs. They also buzz about a penpal site that looks like it has potential.

It would be great to see all of this incorporated into a realistic gaming environment. Google released a game on the da Vinci Code (view) recently, but I am thinking of a heavier blend of real life. I have heard of large companies releasing games blended with the real world. Kind of a mix between geocaching and complex online puzzles.

It will be fun to see what people come up with next.
